Grier Bros.
pinchwaist carbide cap lamp. Manufactured by Grier Bros. of
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Grier Bros. is believed to have begun
carbide lamp production with this model in about 1910. Grier
maufactured oilwick cap lamps for many years prior to producing
carbide lamps. They produced carbide lamps until 1924 when Gem
Manufacturing Co. took over production. There are only three
examples of this lamp known in collections in the U.S.
